LED IIT SNOW: An Introduction to LEDs and Microcontrollers

Revel in the holiday spirit during this Idea Shop Workshop and build your own desktop holiday light display! This all-levels activity will introduce participants to the amazing world of microcontrollers, basic circuitry, soldering, and C++ for microcontroller applications.

Participants will spend the afternoon in guided sessions embellishing their holiday decorations with addressable LEDs, and choreographing a mini light show with their newfound coding skills. Students must bring their own laptops to participate.

Welcome, Have a Seat!

Come to the Idea Shop and build a chair plein air!

Learn about resources offered by the Idea Shop and the Kaplan Institute during this fun all-levels activity.

Using simple hand tools and a dose of patience, participants will build their own chairs over the course of an afternoon. Participants will have the option to pick between chair designs by Enzo Mari or Ian Anderson.

During this activity, participants will be socially distanced and provided with their own set of tools.


Saturday, October 10 11AM - 2PM

Cost: Free Location: Kaplan Institute parking lot (Event will be held inside Kaplan in the event of bad weather)

Students will be provided with tools, materials, and lunch!
