OSHA 3080 defines a hand tool as "...tools that are powered manually. Hand tools include anything from axes to wrenches".
Knives, Scissors and Saws
When using saw blades, knives, or other tools, students should direct the tools away from themselves, aisle areas, and away from other individuals working in close proximity.
Always cut on an approved cutting surface. Tables which can be used as cutting surfaces are labeled.
Knives and scissors must be sharp; dull tools can cause more hazards than sharp ones.
Wrenches and screwdrivers
When using wrenches, make sure they are the used on the appropriate fastener, i.e. screws, hex bolt,
Do not use wrenches other than for their intended use, i.e. a screwdriver as a punch or a wrench as hammer.
If a wrench or screwdriver appears to be damaged, consult with a shop tech and get a replacement.
