Tools for enhanced or specialized grip on materials.

Pliers

Pliers

Pliers are a tool used to get a better grip on something through mechanical advantage. All pliers work the same. By squeezing the handles, large forces are able to be applied to the Jaws/Nose of the pliers. Pliers also come in varying shapes and sizes for different applications. Smaller needle nose (Left in picture) are useful for reaching small areas or grabbing smaller objects. The slip-joint pliers (Right in picture) are useful for grabbing round objects such as pipes, removing nails, and even bending sheet metal. Slip-joint pliers also have a sliding fulcrum/pivot-point, so they can be adjusted to grab larger or smaller objects.

Vise Grips

Vise grips are very similar to pliers, but with a locking feature. To use them, grip them just like pliers. To adjust the force/width of the jaws, twist the knurled knob on the base of one of the handles.
